Leica M7

Quiet Modernity

The Leica M7 represents a significant innovation in the M series as the first rangefinder camera to feature an electronically controlled shutter, aperture priority and digital display. It combines the classic manual mode of operation with modern conveniences, offering a particularly quiet bridge between analogue tradition and contemporary automation.

Light, Form and Trust

Ralph Gibson is an exceptional artist who combines clarity and abstraction like no other. He works with Leica for many years, providing constant inspiration, acting as a role model and offering trusted advice. Gibson is even approached to provide his endorsement for an early iteration of the M7, which subsequently enters into series production. Whether during a Leica workshop or on the road with his M7 in hand, he highlights the unique bond he shares with Leica in a distinctive way: the precision of craftsmanship and profound confidence in the world’s light.

Speaking of Craftsmanship

In the “Year of the M7”, the unique “In Your Hands” campaign is also initiated. These ads present the hands of renowned photographers holding their Leica cameras. The series, which also includes other models to reflect the diversity of the participants, is a successful allusion to the often intimate bond between people and Leica.
