Around 20 years after World War II, lasting peace remains elusive worldwide. In addition to uprisings, border conflicts and the Cold War, images of the Vietnam War in particular shock the world. We can be thankful that there are photographers like Horst Faas, Tim Page and Kyoichi Sawada, who keep their focus on the fate of individuals in the heat of the battle – thus bringing a touch of humanity to headlines about the war. The resulting images are emotional exposés, which translate into a wave of protests in this case.
