Leica M4

The Next Generation Comes into Its Own

The Leica M4 improves on many details, such as an angled rewind crank to quickly change film and frame lines for four focal lengths. Superseding the M2 and M3, it soon established itself as a solid alternative to the SLR camera and as a new icon of street photography.

Flower Power vs. Rifles

The flower, a colorful, delicate, and peaceful metaphor for life. It becomes a symbol of the protest movement that takes to the streets around the world in the late 60s. For change. Against the regime. Against the power of the state. Against the status quo. Against the use of weapons. Against the Vietnam War. The power of images emboldens demonstrations, which in turn are documented and broadcast in powerful images. This is a cycle that puts photojournalists at the epicenter of politics and society.
